On June 26, construction began in Kunshan, Suzhou, on the world’s first 3,000-mm ultra-wide‑format polarizer project—the second phase of Hengmei Optoelectronics—with a total investment of RMB 5.5 billion.

According to reports, Hengmei Optoelectronics’ Phase II facility is capable of producing ultra-large 130-inch displays. Once the project reaches full production capacity, it will add an annual output of 120 million square meters, generate over RMB 6 billion in output value and RMB 500 million in tax revenue, and capture more than 40% of the global market share.

Since establishing itself in Kunshan in 2014, Hengmei Optoelectronics has continuously pursued independent innovation and pushed the boundaries of technological advancement. In 2014, it introduced a 1.5-meter‑wide polarizer production line, effectively alleviating the industry’s reliance on foreign‑supplied critical materials for liquid crystal displays. In 2017, the company made a groundbreaking investment to build the world’s first ultra‑wide 2.5‑meter‑wide production line, sparking a wave of domestic substitution across the polarizer sector.
